Happy New Year! Yes, 2020 is officially here and with it a new decade! Now is the time for resolutions, for starting over and making the most of a whole new chapter of your life. And for many that will include finally working towards the smile of your dreams.

Here at Dental Solutions, we understand how much of your self-esteem and personal happiness can depend on your smile. For that reason, we offer several great cosmetic treatments that help you to get a smile to really grin about! One such treatment plan which may be ideal for helping you get the smile of your dreams in 2020 is a Smile Makeover.

Our Smile Makeover treatments employ a range of techniques; veneers, crowns, whitening, orthodontics, implants, etc. At your initial consultation, the right combination for your smile can be decided and your treatment plan can begin. But, first, there are some factors which may affect the composition of your treatment plan and the techniques needed to transform your smile.

Factors that may affect your Smile Makeover treatment include:

1 – Your Overall Smile Health

In order to provide the best possible treatment for your smile, a full examination will need to be conducted to determine your overall smile health. Different aspects of your smile may need different treatment options. For example, if one tooth is not healthy then it may require additional treatment before any restorative treatment can be conducted.

2 – A Healthy Bite

The way in which your teeth come together can have a severe impact on your smile. Tooth structure may have caused issues for your smile in the first place, which means that if left untreated it could impact your new smile as well. In such cases, you may want to undergo some orthodontic work such as Invisalign to achieve a healthier bite. As this way your Smile Makeover will last for much longer.

In some cases, a mouth guard worn during the night may also be necessary post-treatment (if you suffer from grinding, for example).

3 – Gum Health

Gum health is a crucial factor in your overall and long-term mouth health. But, it can also have an impact on any cosmetic treatments you may wish to undergo. Loose, sensitive or decayed teeth can be difficult to restore as your new smile will need a solid foundation. Therefore, addressing any potential gum disease before treatment is vital.

In some cases, you may need to undergo a tooth extraction before your Smile Makeover can be fully successful. Implants and dental bridges can then be considered as a next step in your smile journey.

4 – Colour

Crowns, veneers and other forms of restorative work are matched with the colour of your surrounding teeth. As crowns, veneers, fillings, etc., do not whiten, it is important to ensure you have a colour you are satisfied with prior to full treatment.
