In December 2013 I was in a major road accident when my car veered into a lorry. I was very badly injured pretty much all over my body sustaining multiple fractures and extensive internal injuries. I was on a life support for several days. My jaw was broken in several places and as a consequence I lost many of my teeth.
Once I had recovered sufficiently I knew that the key thing I wanted to restore was my smile, which was then a mess after all the injuries to my jaw. My job as a Consultant Electrical Engineer involves meeting people at a high level to advise on major projects – I work with the Co Operative Group and Greater Manchester Police Force – and I knew that my ability to communicate without being able to smile was not helping me to get back on my feet. I first went to see Gary Moore at Smiles and More in Warrington and he suggested that I went to meet Gavin Laidlaw and Richard Brookshaw at Dental Solutions to discuss the option of all on 4 implants.
When I met with Gavin I was instantly impressed by the options that were available to me. He instantly put me at my ease and I felt comfortable at the practice and with the team. I then went home, did a lot of my own research and checked the internet thoroughly and then decided to go ahead with the recommended treatment.
On the day of treatment itself – it seemed like a very long day indeed- I was impressed by the dedicated theatre suite and recovery area, the organisation around the paperwork, cleanliness and procedures, together with the support team on hand just for me. The aftercare I received couldn’t be faulted either.
And now the treatment is almost complete I just want to say that I’m over the moon with the results. My new smile is amazing – the whole team have done a first class job. I talk a lot in meetings and I no longer feel self conscious of my smile. I can now eat what I want too which is a major bonus. I feel that after my accident – whilst I’m not 100% mobile yet- I currently still walk with a stick, I have regained my confidence. I am a happy positive person with lots to look forward to. My consultancy continues to go from strength to strength. However I do bleep a lot though when I pass through airport security!
