    Terms and Conditions

Fixed braces are a fixed metal wire and bracket system. Other teen orthodontic systems are available but may incur additional costs. Patients ideally need to be aged between 10 and 16 at the start of their treatment. All patients need to be dentally fit prior to any orthodontic treatment. We may prescribe pre-orthodontic hygienist treatment prior to any fitting. Any hygienist treatment is not included, however direct access to our hygienist team can be arranged at an additional cost

    Fixed Teen Braces FAQs

When it comes to braces for teenagers, there is no “perfect” age. It’s pretty common to have braces fitted between the ages of 12 and 13, but this isn’t set in stone and you can get braces at younger or older ages than this. Generally speaking, teenager braces are recommended because the jaw is still growing at this age and so the opportunity to make adjustments is easier.

Although it’s totally normal for braces to cause some discomfort in the initial days after they are fitted or tightened, they shouldn’t cause pain. It’s a common misconception that braces are painful and restrictive, but if you’re finding that your braces are painful then you should speak to your dentist. Your dentist will be able to look and check that everything is in the right place and not too tight and make any necessary adjustments so that you feel comfortable during your treatment.

It’s worth noting that you can treat any mild pain or discomfort with regular pain killers, including paracetamol and ibuprofen, which should help to take the edge off whilst you adjust to your new braces.

Absolutely! It is during the teenage years that braces are most commonly advised as the teeth are easier to move whilst the jawbone is still growing. If your teenager’s smile is misaligned or they’re struggling to feel confident, then braces could be the perfect solution.
