Last week, the prestigious Swiss based ITI (International Team for Implantology) hosted its four yearly study club in Birmingham. Our very own Richard Brookshaw was invited to deliver a two hour lecture to the study club about surgical and restorative treatment using Zygomatic implants, together with how to plan cases for Zygomatic implants.
Zygomatic implants are used when there is insufficient bone for ordinary implants, usually when there has been a substantial amount of bone loss from the jaw, and the longer zygomatic implants are placed into the cheekbone instead. Patients who have been told that they are unsuitable for normal dental implants now have the option of zygomatic implants in many instances.
This is a very complex procedure and Dental Solutions in Lymm, Cheshire is one of just a handful of practices in the UK that has the benefit of Richard’s expertise to place zygomatic implants for our patients.
Commented Richard ‘I was delighted to present the latest developments in Zygomatic implants to fellow dentists. The aim of the ITI is to disseminate knowledge on all aspects of implant dentistry through education and research, which of course benefits our patients.”
