Last week, the prestigious Swiss based ITI (International Team for Implantology) hosted its four yearly study club in Birmingham. Our very own Richard Brookshaw was invited to deliver a two hour lecture to the study club about surgical and restorative treatment using Zygomatic implants, together with how to plan cases for Zygomatic implants.
Zygomatic implants are used when there is insufficient bone for ordinary implants, usually when there has been a substantial amount of bone loss from the jaw, and the longer zygomatic implants are placed into the cheekbone instead. Patients who have been told that they are unsuitable for normal dental implants now have the option of zygomatic implants in many instances.
