How Do Invisalign® in Warrington Work?

The Invisalign® brace treatment works by straightening your teeth, without anyone knowing that you’re even having treatment!

Dental Solutions Invisalign® in Warrington uses clear or ceramic aligners, brackets and braces. This means that your braces aren’t instantly obvious unless you decide to tell people of course! This is why Invisalign® braces are a popular choice for adults who want to straighten their teeth without compromising on their smile. Invisalign braces use a system that is virtually invisible in order to straighten teeth.

Lizzie's Story - Dental Solutions

Here at Dental Solutions Warrington, we use an iTero Intraoral Scanner – some of the latest dental technology. This enables our dentists to take 3D impressions of your teeth and gums easily, safely and without the need for messy putty impressions!

Itero Scanner

The iTero scan should take around 5-10 minutes. After this, you will be able to immediately see on screen just how your teeth will move into place during your Invisalign® Warrington treatment. You’ll also be able to see how they will look afterwards. The iTero scan ensures that your aligners will be the perfect fit for your teeth during every stage of the process. This includes the retainers you’ll be provided with after treatment for your new smile is complete.

Following treatment for your Invisalign® braces in Warrington, a set of clear aligners are custom-made to fit your new teeth position. They look like thin, clear gum shields, which most people won’t even notice that you are wearing. We regularly treat patients aged 16 to 60, so age is no barrier to Invisalign® brace treatments, so long as you are dentally fit to start treatment!

How do you know if you qualify for Invisalign® in Warrington?

Invisalign® in Warrington is a fantastic way of transforming the appearance of your smile without everyone knowing, but it isn’t a solution that’s suitable for everyone. So how do you know if you’re likely to be eligible for Invisalign®?

Here’s a general list of criteria:

  • You must have all your adult teeth.
  • You’re old enough.
  • You have good oral health (with no gum disease)
  • You don’t require very complex orthodontics.
  • You don’t have a lot of missing teeth.

Your dentist will be able to go through the set of criteria with you during your initial appointment and will thoroughly examine your teeth to make sure Invisalign would be the best fit for you and your smile. In cases where Invisalign® wouldn’t be your best match, we will work hard to find a suitable alternative to get you the smile you want.

How does Invisalign® compare to traditional braces?

There’s a reason why traditional braces have remained as popular as they have for so long, but with Invisalign in Warrington becoming more and more popular, it’s worth knowing how the two treatments differ:

  • Invisalign® doesn’t use any metal wires or brackets but instead uses a soft aligner system that is bespoke to your teeth at every stage of the journey.
  • Invisalign® is removable, so you can eat and brush your teeth more easily.
  • Invisalign® is typically more comfortable to wear.
  • Invisalign® can transform your smile in a shorter time frame compared to traditional braces.

Of course, it’s worth noting that traditional braces can be used to help with more complex orthodontic issues, whereas Invisalign® is better suited to simple issues. Your Warrington dentist will therefore always recommend what’s best for your specific needs.

What can Invisalign® fix?

invisalign before after

Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

invisalign before after

Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

invisalign before after

Open bite

An Open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.

invisalign before after

Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

invisalign before after

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

invisalign before after

Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

FAQs

1. How long does Invisalign take?

Treatment time depends on which Invisalign brace system is right for your teeth, given how many teeth need to move, and how far. A straight smile can be achieved in as little as 7 weeks with the i7 system, to over a year with the Invisalign Full range. But it is completely individual- a bespoke programme is created for you by our Invisalign dentists, and they will be able to give you a very clear idea of treatment time at your initial consultation. However, in our experience, the patients who constantly wear their aligners, removing them only for a short period at mealtimes and cleaning always achieve the fastest results.

Due to technological advancements, Invisalign brace treatment now is faster than ever before. The virtually invisible aligners can in many cases be changed every week as your teeth are gradually repositioned into a smile that you will love. The treatment is so convenient- you can remove the aligners to eat and to clean your teeth. You can even use the aligners to whiten your teeth during treatment. Invisalign braces are more comfortable than traditional fixed braces. There are no metal wires or bands which are more visible and can sometimes irritate your mouth. It’s also easier to keep your teeth clean too.

2. Aren't there different types of Invisalign Braces?

There are three main types of Invisalign braces that we use at Dental Solutions. During your consultation, your appointed dentist will advise you on the best system to meet your needs.

Invisalign Full

This is the most commonly used course of Invisalign brace treatment here at Dental Solutions. We provide as many aligners as needed to achieve your desired result, Invisalign Full is used to treat the more complex orthodontic conditions. On average, treatment time can range from 12 to 18 months but differs from person to person.

Invisalign Lite

Providing for less complex alignment problem cases, Invisalign Lite uses a fixed number of aligners to correct small discrepancies towards an improved smile. It is also ideal for those who need the positioning of their teeth adjusted and straightened before cosmetic work such as veneers, crowns or bridges – Invisalign provides a great solution to enhance the cosmetic/aesthetic solution.

Invisalign i7

The latest addition to the range of Invisalign service solutions, comprising of a typically shorter treatment time than the standard Invisalign course. This was developed for those people who need minor dental corrections. This could be treating slight overcrowding cases or perhaps that single annoying crooked tooth that has always been an eyesore in photos. It has also been used in cases when there has been previous orthodontic treatment and relapse has been very minor- Invisalign i7 can prove to be a useful solution.

3. Are Invisalign Braces painful?

You might notice a slight achy feeling in your teeth after having Invisalign braces fitted. For a couple of days after each change of aligner, you might notice sensitivity or aches as your teeth move into their new positions. Usually, this is nothing too severe and any aches or pain can be treated with painkillers, such as paracetamol.

4. What can I eat and drink with Invisalign Braces

When wearing Invisalign braces, you should remove them at mealtimes and only drink water. One of the huge benefits of having Invisalign braces is that you can remove them at mealtimes. This means you are not restricted in what you can eat or drink, unlike traditional metal braces. Before you replace your aligners, you should brush your teeth so as not to cause any damage or discolouration.

5. Will the aligners affect my speech?

In the days following your Invisalign brace treatment, you might find that you have a lisp for a few days. This is normal as you become used to the feel of the aligners in your mouth. It feels more noticeable to you than it actually is and you’ll soon notice that your speech adjusts as you get used to wearing your new braces.

6. How do I look after my teeth during Invisalign Brace treatment

You will need to see your own hygienist or visit our hygienist team here at Dental Solutions prior to your initial scan or impressions. Even the slightest amount of plaque can hamper the efficiency of your Invisalign brace treatment. We also recommend a visit to your hygienist during and immediately after treatment to ensure that your teeth are staying clean and that you are brushing them correctly.
