What You Need to Know About Getting Dental Implants

Getting dental implants is a popular procedure that provides an alternative solution to older, more traditional methods, such as dentures, when it comes to tooth loss. Dental implants offer a more reliable and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth and when placed correctly, they can last you a lifetime, meaning that you don’t have to worry about removing them in the evenings or when eating and drinking.

Although getting dental implants is a hugely popular procedure, a lot of patients still have some concerns when it comes to the treatment and what is involved. With this in mind, here are some things that you need to know about getting dental implants.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a good replacement for damaged or missing teeth as they are more permanent and natural-looking. Some patients may not want to wear dentures or temporary replacements, such as a dental bridge, so getting dental implants is the most practical treatment. Surgery is needed to fit dental implants, as the procedure involves replacing tooth roots and fitting artificial teeth to your jawbone. As time goes on, the metal fitting used when getting dental implants will fuse with the jawbone which then creates a solid foundation for your new teeth, without the worry of it coming loose or being uncomfortable to wear, as other replacements might.

Do Dental Implants Work and Look Like Natural Teeth?

When it comes to getting dental implants, many patients worry that they won’t look like their natural teeth and will stand out in comparison to their natural teeth. However, dental implants work and look just like natural teeth. Because dental implants are connected to your jawbone, they are more stable and long-lasting than temporary fixtures, which means you needn’t worry about biting and chewing. Here at Dental Solutions, we only use premium products and Nobel Biocare implant systems and technology, so that your new replacement teeth will match your surrounding natural teeth.

Preparing For Dental Implant Treatment

Before getting dental implants, the lead up to the procedure will likely involve a few appointments with our team of dentists, nurses and hygienists. Our dental implant packages include a free 30-minute consultation with Gavin, our Principal Dentist, who will discuss the treatment and procedure with you and help you to decide on the best implants for you. We will also take some x-rays and photographs prior to your treatment and support you through the steps before your dental implant procedure with Richard Brookshaw. We may also recommend some pre-implant hygiene treatment.

We have a dedicated implant suite here at Dental Solutions to make the procedure all the more comfortable for you, including a TV in the ceiling so you have something else to focus on during the procedure!

Worried About Getting Dental Implants?

When getting dental implants, the actual treatment takes around one and a half hours to complete and none of our patients have reported any pain whilst getting dental implants, so if you’re worried about that aspect, there’s no need to be. We understand that this may be quite a big procedure for you, so if you have any questions or concerns, just let us know. There are many advantages to getting dental implants, such as improved appearance, better self-esteem and improvements in the way that you eat and bite. As well as this, you can also expect to see some improvements in your overall oral health.
