Which Orthodontic Treatment is Right for You?
At Dental Solutions Lymm you can have the choice between different orthodontic treatments. We understand how hard it can be to choose one of the treatments and although we do recommend booking your free initial consultation with us to discuss these options, here is a rundown of the most common orthodontic treatments.
Invisalign
When choosing an Invisalign treatment you get custom made aligners which can correct orthodontic issues. You won’t have any wire or brackets and it is a modern way to achieve a straight smile with visible improvements much sooner!
The benefits of Invisalign are:
- The clear aligners are nearly invisible
- There is no metal to irritate gums or cheeks
- They are removable when eating, drinking or cleaning
- There are no food restrictions
- Fewer appointments to the dentist needed
By choosing this orthodontic treatment you can treat the following issues:
- Crowding
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Openbite
- Spaces between teeth
The time frame for the Invisalign treatment is usually about a year for adults. The treatment time for teenagers is similar to the treatment time with traditional braces. Plus, the clear aligners can serve as retainers after treatment.
Six Month Smiles
The Six Month Smiles treatment is a fast alternative to traditional braces where the clear braces are less visible than the traditional ones. This treatment focuses on moving the teeth that show when you smile, it emphasises on the cosmetic appearance over the position of the bite.
The benefits of Six Month Smiles are:
- A low force moves gently the teeth
- It uses discreet clear braces
- You can get a great smile in less time
- It may be more economical than Invisalign or traditional braces
- It is also more suitable for adults
This orthodontic treatment can treat crooked teeth and spaces between teeth.
The treatment lasts for six months and retainers should be worn after the braces come off.
Traditional Braces
The traditional braces consist of metal brackets which are bonded to the teeth to correct orthodontic problems. Wires are then attached to the brackets to move the teeth into position. Small rubber bands, called ligatures, attach the wires to the brackets.
The benefits of traditional braces are:
- They are durable braces
- They will not become discoloured
- They correct a wide range of orthodontic problems
- They’re also suitable for children, teenagers and adults
The treatable issues by this orthodontic treatment can be: crowding, overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, crooked teeth, gapped teeth and more!
They can last from 1 to 3 years depending on the severity of the orthodontic problem. Retainers should be worn after the braces come off.

Gavin is similarly very friendly and the surgery is kitted out with the most high-tech modern equipment. On my first visit Gavin examined my teeth and explained my options to me giving me his recommendation for treatment and reasons why. Their Co-ordinator prepared a detailed quote for my treatment and went through it in detail with me, ensuring I understood everything; she had plenty of time for me as a patient. From the outset I had complete confidence in entrusting them with my dental care and the final results are truly amazing. Gavin and Richard could not have been more professional and my treatment was made as painless as possible. Dental Solutions provide a truly outstanding service and I thank them for my new 'long lost' smile and renewed confidence, especially when dining out and talking with people. I was surprised at how relaxed I actually felt undergoing treatment for a crown and the removal/replacement of front teeth veneers. Having felt self conscious about my front teeth for a long time, I decided to have my old veneers replaced. The results were amazing and far exceeded my expectations. What Gavin achieved was nothing short of a work of art, boosting my confidence tenfold. The practice itself is very welcoming, the customer service excellent and the staff are all very friendly and kind. I cannot recommend this dental practise highly enough.

The receptionist I spoke to initially was super compassionate and understanding and did all she could to get me in asap. I saw Lauren for all of my appointments, and I’ve now had: a composite filling, root canal and emax crown and just yesterday had a wisdom tooth extracted. I don't know what Lauren does but I have had zero pain or discomfort with any treatments during and after. I'm extremely happy with the results of her work. She definitely knows her stuff and filled me with the utmost confidence whilst in the chair! I literally cant find any fault with any of the experiences I have had so far.
