We are delighted to welcome Amy Norfolk to the Dental Solutions team. Amy joined the practice to cover for Lauren Westhead while she is away on maternity leave. Amy graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc in Physiology before continuing her education at UCLAN where she gained her dentistry qualification in 2011. During her studies, Amy was involved in research into composite bonding strengths and presented her research to the International Association for Dental Research in Barcelona alongside the Head of the School of Dentistry for UCLAN. She also regularly represented the university at BDSA and EDSA meetings.
Since graduating in 2011, Amy has developed her general experience working in NHS, mixed, emergency and private practices in the North West. We are now delighted that she will be putting her expertise and experience to use in the Dental Solutions practice. She is a highly versatile dentist and is qualified and experienced to perform a broad range of surgical treatments from fillings and root canal (endodontics), through to the surgical removal of teeth and short term orthodontics. Amy is also a trained Quick Straight Teeth Provider. She gets a great deal of satisfaction successfully treating very nervous patients and those with complex phobias. Most of them become very comfortable about receiving dental treatment thanks to her high standards of care and attention.
In her spare time, Amy is a keen trail runner and can often be found halfway up a hill. She regularly takes part in ultra distance runs, which is anything longer than a marathon for the uninitiated. She recently travelled to Switzerland to run the Eiger Ultra Trail, which is a gruelling 101km race with a 6,700m ascent. She is also a keen hockey player and has represented her city, county, university and the North of England as captain of her team.
