I first broke my upper front tooth when I was 15 and I have lived with a partial denture for many years until gradually over the years my surrounding teeth also worked loose and I faced losing two or three teeth more at the top which were all failing. I knew I didn’t want to live with full dentures so I looked around for alternatives, and implants were a key consideration.
It was a major decision for me and so I did a lot of research online to find the best person to perform the implant. I knew I was only going to do this once and I, therefore, wanted it done properly by the best person available. I went along for a consultation with Gavin and decided that the team there were the best people for me.
I came back from my holiday in Greece the day before the upper All on Four procedure itself so it all felt slightly unreal. I arrived at the practice first thing in the morning and I admit I was quite apprehensive when I met Nicky and then the rest of the team. But by 2.30pm I was on my way home. I thought I would be in more pain but the sedation was very good indeed – I felt as though I was coming and going in awareness of what was going on throughout the procedure – the time just flew by and I really didn’t feel any pain. My recovery afterwards was very straightforward too – all controlled with some paracetamol with very little swelling and no bruising whatsoever.
Now the treatment is complete I can eat pretty much whatever I want- crunchy snacks, crusty bread, I can even bite into apples which I hadn’t done since I was 15! I smile with a lot more confidence now knowing that my denture isn’t going to slip. Your face is what everybody sees – it’s your window on the world and I feel much less inhibited than I did before and much happier now.
